• Davide Zampatti, with a PhD in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies, serves as a Data Scientist at the University of Milano (Italy). From 2020 to 2021, Davide served as the inaugural research assistant at OIPE, funded by the Levi-Cases Centre of the University of Padua. During this period, Davide conducted spatial econometric analyses of energy poverty in regional contexts, constructed energy poverty risk indices, and participated in policy evaluations.
  • Gowthami Venkateswaran is currently pursuing a PhD in Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U.S.). From 2022 to 2022, Gowthami served as the second research assistant at OIPE, funded by A2A-Fondazione Banco dell’Energia. During this time, Gowthami focused on developing a groundbreaking spatial indicator of energy poverty (see “Energy poverty risk: a spatial index based on energy efficiency“).
  • Dr. Adera Abreham Mengistu, who earned a PhD from the University of Bergamo, Italy, currently holds the position of third research assistant at OIPE, also funded by A2A-Fondazione Banco dell’Energia. Abreham is engaged in estimating energy poverty at the EU level using EU-HBS microdata and working on a paper on the impact of electrification in Ethiopia.
  • Lorena Popescu is pursuing a PhD in Economics and Statistics at the University of Milano-Bicocca, specialising in Health Econ. She collaborates with the UCSC in Milan and Rome on air pollution’s effects stemming from residential heating on health. She holds a research grant at the University of Padua, in collaboration with ARERA, focused on Energy Poverty. In 2024, she was a visiting PhD researcher at VATT’s Environment & Energy group, and previously, a Jr. research assistant at Collegio Carlo Alberto and the UniTo, studying poverty, inclusion and household economics. She’s the fourth research assistant at OIPE.
